Thank You Peter Caspersz

Peter is finishing up at SPBA on the 15th of July to take up another position at a local club.

Pete started with the SPBA towards the end of the first COVID lockdown and has played a pivotal part in the re-establishment of our commitment to the community, which had not been as apparent in the lead up to COVID.

To name just a few:

  • Launching our first ever All Abilities Program with some events with over 40 people
  • Developing our domestic holiday camps with most camps these holidays reaching full capacity
  • Established basketball at the majority of schools on the peninsula with the Sporting Schools program and school academy programs
  • Developing our areas of Indigenous relations, inclusive practices, club engagement and more
  • Being there to help anyone else that needed it

Peter’s message to the SPBA family:

“I would like to thank everyone at SPBA from Board of Management, to staff, players and parents for my time at this great association, as I will be moving onto another role elsewhere.

I have truly loved my time here, in particular as Community Engagement Officer and as coach of Senior and Junior Rep teams.

What an awesome association it is and I congratulate Ben White, Matt Brasser and Nicole Sinclair who I had the great pleasure to work alongside.

[I got to] witness first hand the amount of work, time and effort they put in to make sure everybody at SPBA are catered for, in particular for the juniors to have an environment to feel safe in and be proud of.

I cannot speak highly enough of Southern Peninsula Basketball.

To the families that I have had the awesome pleasure of meeting and to the kids who I have coached and watched playing, you are all legends. I can only wish you all the greatest in life and hope you all achieve more than you deserve.

Thankfully, my kids will continue to play at SPBA, so I will be around on Friday nights and I take joy in knowing I can still cheer the Sharks on to victory!”

It goes without saying, Pete has been a great role model to us all and he has been a positive influence on everybody at the association.

There is no doubt he will make the same impact in his new position.

Thank you and best of luck!
